Tang Dynasty at Maximal Extent

The Tang Dynasty was a golden age in Chinese history. It had highly advanced medical, astronomical, and metallurgical sciences for the time, and had a population of around 50 million at its height. Emperor Gaozong, though rather weak, significantly expanded the Tang's borders such that their Empire stretched from Korea to Kashmir and from Lake Baikal to Vietnam. His reign was helped along by the cunning and very clever Wu Zetian, who would later seize control of the country and lead China to new heights in her ruthless reign.
